Telacoya was founded in 1978 in Kyoto, the ancient capital that has fostered countless traditional industries for generations. Our main business is selling souvenirs at tourist destinations, and we have followed our path with sincerity, supported by our customers' smiles. We have inherited old and new cultural traditions, and we add a touch of whimsy to these steadfast techniques to deliver premium, worthwhile products to our customers.

The term "terakoya" was originally a privately-run school that taught commoner children reading, writing, arithmetic, and practical knowledge and skills in the Edo period.
We named our company "Telacoya" after such a school so that as we interact with our customers through Japanese food and culture, all our employees can work toward our goals of continuing to learn daily about the spirit of courtesy and hospitality and becoming a force for regional revitalization.
Nothing delights us more than to add a vibrant finishing touch to the fun memories of the customers who teach us so much.
